Can I use the Pixfra Arc A635 thermal monocular during the daytime, or is it night only?
Unlike night vision devices that rely on ambient light amplification and can be damaged by daylight, the Pixfra Arc series uses thermal imaging. Because it detects heat signatures rather than light, you can safely and effectively use it in broad daylight, complete darkness, or challenging visibility conditions like fog and light foliage.
How does the "Share the View" screen-sharing feature work, and do my friends need their own devices?
The Arc series features built in Wi-Fi that connects directly to the free Pixfra app (available for iOS and Android). It allows you to stream your live thermal view to up to four smart devices simultaneously as long as they are within 20 meters of the monocular. This means a group can observe a specific target together in real time without having to pass the physical monocular around.
Can I record videos and take photos directly on the device?
Yes. The Arc A635 has an integrated video and photo recorder. It also features built in audio recording, meaning you can capture the environmental sounds or narrate your observations as they happen. All files are saved to the device's generous internal storage and can be transferred later via USB-C or the mobile app.
What kind of batteries does the Arc series use, and can they be replaced in the field?
The monocular is designed with a user replaceable, rechargeable battery system. It comes supplied with two rechargeable batteries and a charger. This allows you to quickly swap out a depleted battery for a fresh one while out in the field, ensuring you don't run out of power during extended night time observation sessions.
Is the Pixfra Arc rugged enough to withstand bad weather and accidental drops?
Yes, the device is engineered for tough outdoor environments. It features a robust magnesium alloy casing that protects the internal optics from everyday bumps, scrapes, and drops. Additionally, it has an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning it can withstand heavy rain, snow, and even temporary submersion in water.
What are the different "Colour Palettes," and how do they help in the field?
The device offers multiple distinct color modes (such as White Hot, Black Hot, Iron Red, and Alarm) to suit different environments. For example, "White Hot" is ideal for general scanning and spotting targets, while "Alarm" highlights the hottest object in the frame to help you pick out camouflaged wildlife or people instantly.
Can I take the Pixfra Arc A635 with me on trips abroad outside the UK?
Thermal imaging devices are subject to strict export control laws (such as ITAR and UK Government Export Licensing Regulations). Even if you are just taking the device on holiday temporarily, you may be required to obtain an official export license prior to leaving the UK. It is highly recommended to check current government guidelines before traveling.
