How does the Pixfra Arc A419 differ from standard night vision devices?
Unlike traditional night vision, which amplifies existing ambient light (like moonlight or starlight) and can be blinded by bright light, the Arc A419 relies entirely on thermal imaging. It detects the infrared heat signatures emitted by animals, people, and objects. This means it works in total, absolute darkness, through dense fog, light foliage, and smoke, and it can even be used during broad daylight.
What kind of battery life can I expect during a long night out?
The device is built for extended field use and comes equipped with a dual battery setup. It includes two rechargeable, replaceable lithium batteries that provide up to 7.5 hours of runtime each, giving you up to 14–15 hours of total continuous operation. A dual-bay USB-C charger is included in the box, allowing you to easily swap a fresh battery in while in the field.
Can I share what I am seeing with other people in my group?
Yes. One of the best features of the Arc series for group observation, ecology surveys, or training is its Wi-Fi screen sharing capability. By downloading the free Pixfra Outdoor app (available for both iOS and Android), up to four people can connect their smartphones or tablets to a single monocular within a 20 meter range. This allows the whole group to view the live thermal feed simultaneously without having to pass the device around.
How rugged is the Arc A419, and can it handle bad weather?
The monocular is built specifically for tough outdoor environments. It features a robust magnesium alloy casing designed to absorb everyday bumps and scrapes in the field. It also carries an IP67 waterproof rating, meaning it is completely dust tight and can survive being splashed or briefly submerged in water. Furthermore, it operates reliably in extreme temperatures ranging from -30°C to +50°C.
Can I record video or take photos with this device?
Yes, the Arc A419 features a built in video and audio recorder. It comes with a generous 32 GB of internal storage, allowing you to save hours of footage and capture your wildlife encounters or tactical observations directly onto the device. You can transfer these files later using a Type C cable or directly through the mobile app.
Is the device comfortable to use for long periods?
The Arc A419 was designed with ergonomics and portability in mind. It weighs under 350 grams (less than a pound), making it incredibly lightweight and preventing hand fatigue during prolonged scanning sessions. The button layout is intuitive and easy to navigate by touch, even when wearing gloves, and its compact frame fits comfortably inside a standard jacket pocket or pack when not in use.
