1. What resolution does it use?
It uses a 1024×768 thermal sensor with a 12µm pixel pitch for high-definition thermal imaging and better target separation at range.

2. How sensitive is it in poor conditions?
It has a NETD of under 35mK (with system sensitivity even lower), helping it pick up subtle heat differences in fog, rain, and low-contrast environments.

3. What is the detection range?
It can detect targets out to approximately 2800 metres depending on environmental conditions and target size.

4. Does it have a laser rangefinder?
Yes, it includes a built-in LRF with a maximum measuring range of around 800m and ±1m accuracy.

5. What magnification does it offer?
It provides 2.5–20x magnification with smooth digital zoom for both scanning and long-range identification.

6. What’s the advantage of the XL60 over XP/XG models?
The XL60 uses higher resolution (1024×768) plus a 60mm lens, giving noticeably better long-range detail and target definition compared to 640×480 units.

7. Is the image quality noticeably better than 640×480 scopes?
Yes—especially at distance. The extra pixel density helps with identifying smaller or partially obscured targets.

8. How long does the battery last?
Typically around 7 hours depending on conditions, using a dual battery system (internal + removable pack).

9. Is it suitable for heavy recoil rifles?
Yes, it’s rated for high recoil energy (up to 6000 Joules), making it suitable for large calibres.

10. What’s the main reason to choose this over lower Thermion models?
It’s all about long-range identification—higher resolution, bigger optics, and better clarity at distance where lower-spec units start to lose detail.

COURIERS

We use DPD , RoyalMail, TNT  and UPS courier services for all our orders whether dispatching to the UK or International. As soon as your order has been dispatched you will receive an email with your unique tracking number. We are unable to add delivery notes to your order regarding safe spaces or neighbour deliveries. If you require this service it can be arranged directly with the courier once the parcel is in their network.

IN-STORE ITEMS

These are items that we have in-stock and will be sent out for delivery as soon as possible. We aim to dispatch all orders within 1-2 working days, but during busy periods dispatch may be delayed by a day or so. PRE-ORDER ITEMS

These are usually items that are going to be out-of-stock for a number of weeks or are in short supply. By purchasing a Pre-Order Item you are in effect paying a deposit for your goods. As soon as the item is back in stock yours will be dispatched within 24 hours where possible. Please see individual product pages for current back-in-stock dates. In rare occasions, these dates can be changed by the manufacturers so we recommend staying in contact with Optics Warehouse depending on the product lead time.

INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY & TAXES

In addition to the above information If your delivery address is outside of the UK you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Any such additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. You should note that customs policies vary widely from country to country. Optics Warehouse advises each customer to contact their local customs office for further information if they are in any way unsure of local duties or liabilities. Cross border shipments are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities which means some packages may be opened and re-sealed.
