The Caldwell Narrow Sporter Front Rest Bag (Filled) is basically a simple, ready-to-use front shooting bag designed to sit in a front rest cradle and give your rifle a stable, repeatable support point when you’re shooting from a bench. It’s shaped specifically for sporting-style rifles with slimmer fore-ends, so it holds the barrel/stock area securely without wobble, and it’s pre-filled so you don’t need to mess around with sand or packing it yourself. The outer surface uses a leather contact patch to grip the rifle without marking it, while the polyester body is built not to stretch or sag, so it keeps its shape over time instead of going floppy after a few sessions. It attaches quickly to most Caldwell-style front rests using hook-and-loop tabs, so setup and swap-out is quick and painless.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION(S)

1. What is this bag used for?
It’s used as the front support in a shooting rest setup to stabilise a rifle for more consistent bench shooting and zeroing.

2. Does it come filled?
Yes, this version is pre-filled and ready to use straight out of the box.

3. What type of rifles is it for?
It’s designed for narrow/sporter-style rifle fore-ends, rather than wide varmint or benchrest stocks.

4. What is it made from?
A combination of leather (contact surface) and durable polyester for the main body.

5. Will it damage my rifle?
No, the leather contact surface is designed to be non-marring and grip the rifle safely.

6. Does it sag or lose shape over time?
Not really—polyester construction is designed to resist stretching and help it keep its form.

7. How does it attach to a rest?
It uses hook-and-loop (Velcro-style) tabs so it can be quickly installed or removed from a compatible cradle.

8. Is it only for Caldwell rests?
No, it’s designed to fit most standard front rest cradles that accept interchangeable bags.

9. What’s the benefit over unfilled bags?
Convenience—no filling, no mess, and consistent weight and firmness from the start.

10. What’s the main downside?
It’s less customisable than unfilled bags, so you can’t adjust weight or firmness to your preference.
