1. What makes Burris XTR Signature Rings different from standard tactical rings? Unlike traditional rings, the XTR Signature series features a revolutionary Pos-Align® Insert system. These synthetic inserts provide 100% scope-to-ring contact, which prevents the "pinching" or scratching of your scope tube while offering massive gripping power. Additionally, they allow you to adjust the cant of your optic internally without needing to buy a separate 20 MOA base.
2. Can these rings add MOA to my scope setup? Yes! Each set of XTR Signature Rings comes with various sets of offset inserts (including +/- 5, 10, and 20 MOA). By swapping these inserts, you can add between 5 and 40 MOA of cant to your setup. This is perfect for long-range shooters who have run out of internal elevation adjustment on their turrets.
3. Do I need to lap Burris XTR Signature Rings? No, lapping is not required or recommended for these rings. The self-centering Pos-Align inserts automatically compensate for any minor misalignments in the rifle’s receiver or base. This ensures a perfectly centered fit that protects your optic’s internal components and outer finish from stress.
4. Will these rings fit a Weaver or Picatinny rail? Burris XTR Signature Rings are designed with unique, self-centering dual steel clamps. These allow the rings to mount securely to any Picatinny or Weaver-style rail, regardless of slight width variations between manufacturers. This ensures a rock-solid, centered fit every time.
5. How do I choose between 1-inch, 30mm, and 34mm rings? The size you need depends entirely on the main tube diameter of your rifle scope. For example, a Burris Eliminator 6 requires the 34mm version, while many classic hunting scopes require 1-inch or 30mm. Always check your scope's technical specifications before purchasing.
6. Which height should I choose: Low, Medium, or High? Ring height is determined by the size of your scope's objective lens (the front bell) and your rifle's barrel profile. Generally:
-
Low: Best for scopes with smaller objectives (up to 40mm) on rifles with no full-length rail.
-
Medium: The standard choice for 42mm to 50mm objectives.
-
High: Required for large 52mm+ objectives (like the Eliminator 6) or rifles with full-length Picatinny rails to ensure the scope bell doesn't touch the handguard.
7. Are the XTR Signature Rings heavy-duty enough for high-recoil rifles? Absolutely. These are tactical-grade rings constructed from high-strength aluminum with solid steel cross-bolts. The wide, 6-screw design provides significantly more surface area and clamping force than standard 2- or 4-screw rings, making them ideal for magnum calibers and heavy-recoil precision rifles.

Measure the outermost diameter of your scope’s objective bell (including any flare).
Measure the thickness of any scope cover if used. If none, leave as 0.
Measure from the top of the rail to the highest point of the barrel.
We add a little extra clearance to account for real-world variation. Default is +1 mm.
Enter your measurements above to calculate the lowest ring height (base-to-centre) you can realistically use.
(A + 2×B) / 2 − C + TWhere A = objective outer diameter, B = cover thickness, C = rail-to-barrel clearance, T = tolerance.
