Northern Monkeys | Andrew Luckley Memorial Shoot

Here at Optics Warehouse, we take pride in sponsoring a range of fantastic clubs and organisations within the community. This week we take a look at our sponsored club the Northern Monkeys (NMHFT) to celebrate their efforts in the annual Andrew Luckley Memorial Shoot.

Two of the best course setters in the country worked tirelessly to create a course that was deceptively simple-looking but featured many unusual targets and many cunningly constructed range traps.

With over 60 shooters attending from across the country, the event proved to be a huge success for Northern Monkeys.

ON THE DAY

The day of the shoot arrived and as usual, for NMHFT shoots the weather was fine with little to no wind. Once the safety brief was completed, the event saw shooters head out into the course for a couple of hours shooting.

When walking around doing marshalling duties there were frequent grumbles and whinges about targets that had caught people out.

The course setters were roundly abused and their parentage questioned. We enjoy this as it means we've done our job properly.

Shooters also headed down for the now-famous NMHFT MEGA RAFFLE, supported by Optics Warehouse, Hawke, Vortex, Custom Targets and many other companies who as always were extremely generous within the shooting community.

We are delighted to announce that Chris Cundey was named this year's recipient of the Andrew Luckley Memorial Shield.

Chris managed to put together a clear round - this is only the second time an NMHFT course has been cleared in Northern Monkey history!

This is no mean feat so our congratulations go to Chris.

And congratulations to all of the juniors.

A great job all around!

Our thanks go to all of our sponsors without who we couldn't put on our shoots.

As always, thanks go to everyone that helps setting up as our time constraints are like nothing else in the country.

If you ever fancy trying HFT for yourself you could do a lot worse than a Northern Monkeys shoot.
