HIKMICRO Alpex A50P Pro Review – The New Benchmark in Digital Day & Night Optics

Great First Impressions

Straight out of the box, the Alpex Pro feels substantial.

HIKMicro has clearly listened to feedback from the original Alpex and the 4K models. It feels refined, rugged, and remarkably balanced. There is a sense of "premium" here that you don’t often get with digital units, which can sometimes feel like plastic gadgets. This feels like a piece of serious hunting kit.

Image Quality: A Massive Step Forward

The jump to the 12MP (4512 × 2512) sensor is immediately apparent. We’ve reached a point where the "digital" look, the graininess and the flat contrast is becoming a thing of the past.

Thanks to the Light Pro algorithm, the clarity in that tricky twilight period is incredible. Where most digital scopes force you into black-and-white "night mode" as soon as the sun dips below the horizon, the Alpex Pro holds a vibrant, full-colour image much longer. This extended colour retention is vital for target identification and separating a target from a dense, shadowy treeline.

Night Performance & IR Clarity

When the light finally fails and you switch to IR, the high-resolution sensor continues to shine. The image remains remarkably crisp without the "snow" or digital noise common in lower-spec units. I found that the sensor handles IR "white-out" much better than previous models, maintaining detail in the shadows even when a bright object is in the foreground.

Lossless Zoom up to 9x

One of the biggest bugbears with digital scopes has always been pixelation as soon as you touch the zoom. Because the sensor resolution is so high compared to the display, you’re essentially cropping into a massive 12MP image rather than just stretching pixels.

While the scope provides a massive 4.0x to 24.0x range, it stays virtually lossless up to 9x. It remains crisp, clear, and usable throughout that crucial mid-range where most shots are actually taken.

Precision with the Ballistic Calculator

The integrated ballistic calculator is a game-changer. By inputting your specific ammunition data, muzzle velocity, bullet weight, and ballistic coefficient into the HikMicro Sight App, you can sync profiles to the unit in seconds.

When you range your target, the internal algorithm provides an instant, adjusted point-of-aim. It takes the guesswork out of holdovers, and the updated firmware now even accounts for wind speed and direction. The Bluetooth connection between the phone and the scope is the most stable I’ve tested, making field adjustments painless rather than a chore.

All the Features You’ve Come to Expect

It checks every box for a modern digital optic:

Recoil-activated recording (with audio) so you never miss a shot.
Internal and external battery system giving you around 7 hours of runtime.
Multiple zeroing profiles and the "freeze zero" function which makes setup a five-minute job.
64GB of internal storage for high-bitrate footage.

A Rifle Scope That Happens to be Electric

This is perhaps the most important point: this doesn’t feel like a "digital scope." It feels like a high-quality rifle scope that just happens to be electric. There’s no "screen-lag" feel; the 50Hz refresh rate is fluid, and the 1920x1080 AMOLED display is so clear it tricks your eye into thinking you're looking through glass.

Ergonomics: Traditional and Intuitive

If you can use a standard day scope, you can use this. It mounts via standard 30mm rings, and the layout is perfectly familiar. The left-side focus wheel and the rear zoom ring (complete with a throw lever) mean your muscle memory from years of shooting glass optics carries over perfectly.
