THE PRIZE: Pulsar Talion XQ38 Thermal Imaging 384x288 17µm <40mK Rifle Scope with Pulsar Weaver U mount

The brand-new Pulsar Talion XQ38 is an innovative, compact thermal imaging riflescope with an eclectic range of impressive features, including a highly sensitive 384x288, 17 µm <40 mK NETD thermal imaging sensor for stunning clarity at up to 1350m.

Powered by an interchangeable and rechargeable Pulsar APS5 battery, the Talion XQ38 provides up to 9 hours of operation time after just a single charge (depending on temperature). The embossed battery cover design helps the user to accurately identify the correct battery position, meaning removing and replacing the battery is quick and easy, even in complete darkness. The rapid extraction lock will also ensure a fast and seamless battery removal and replacement. Releasing this lock will open and raise the Talion XQ38 ' s battery cover, which is located on the top of the riflescope's housing.

At only 700g, this innovative new thermal imaging riflescope is incredibly lightweight, however, due to its rugged magnesium-alloy housing, the Talion XQ38 still retains a robust build that can take on even the harshest conditions. This magnesium alloy housing also serves as a heat sink, extracting the warmth generated by the device's inner electronics. To add to its durability, this compact device is also IPX7 waterproof, withstanding heavy rain and high humidity. It can even withstand immersion in 1m of water for up to half an hour. High calibre weapons are also no problem, as this riflescope is high recoil resistant, meaning it can be used with high calibre hunting rifles (9.3x64, .30-06, .300, .375H&H, etc.), as well as smooth-bore and pneumatic weapons.

Focus adjustment has been made simple thanks to the integrated fin lever. Designed to match the protruding ridge on the Talion XQ38 ' s housing when focusing has reached the 70m mark (nigh-time shooting distance), this will allow for quick and correct focusing, without needing to look down the riflescope.

Locating the controls on the Talion XQ38 has been made effortless, as they have all been placed on the top panel of the eyepiece to simplify access as much as possible for users regardless of whether they are left or right-handed.

The Talion XQ38 allows the user to choose between three signal amplification levels. This, combined with Pulsar's new filtration algorithms with fine brightness and contrast adjustments, will help to better define a target's features, as well as provide an incredibly clear rendering of objects and backgrounds in the field of view.

The Talion XQ38 offers 5 shooting profiles for a variety of weapon or cartridge types. Each profile can store up to 10 zeroing distances, offering up to 50 zeroing distances overall. There is also a selection of 10 electronic reticle configurations and functions (direct shot type, ballistic, scalable, and regular) in 9 colour modes.

Picture in Picture (PiP) mode uses 10% of the Talion XQ38 ' s display, allowing the user to observe an HD zeroing frame. This mode will display a magnified image of the target and reticle, whilst simultaneously retaining visual control over the entire field of view.

Capture all those once-in-a-lifetime moments thanks to built-in video and still image recording capabilities. This, combined with the built-in WiFi module and Stream Vision 2 connectivity, will allow the user to view and share memorable moments easily.

Connecting the Talion XQ38 to the Stream Vision 2 mobile app will open up a plethora of features and functionalities. Use your mobile phone or tablet as a second screen, gain remote control of digital functions, view and share videos and still images, remotely install all the latest firmware updates, and much more with Stream Vision 2, available for Apple and Android devices on the Apple AppStore and the Google Play Store respectively.

FEATURES

Features

  • 9 hour operation time on a single charge

Talion is powered with a Pulsar APS5 interchangeable, rechargeable battery. A single charge guarantees up to 9 hours of battery life, which covers the time of active use of the scope for a hunt. The battery cover design helps to accurately determine the correct position and makes it possible to quickly replace a flat battery with a new one in complete darkness by touch alone.

  • Multi-point prism mount for precise positioning on a rifle

A mounting prism with multiple screw points to ensure flexibility and convenience when installing a Talion riflescope on various types of rifles. During installation, the user can shift the scope along the rifle to the most comfortable viewing position.

  • All control elements in, direct access

All Talion riflescope controls are placed on the top panel of the eyepiece to simplify access and for the convenience of both right- and left-handed users.

  • Rapid battery extraction mechanism

Unique battery cover design with rapid extraction lock ensures fast and flawless battery replacement. Releasing the lock opens and raises the battery cover at the top of the riflescope’s housing for quick access to the rechargeable battery.

  • Focus adjustment with tactile marker set for night-time shot

The precise focusing adjustment has an integrated fin lever that is set to match the protruding ridge on the housing of Talion riflescope when focusing reaches 70 m (76 yd) mark, the night-time shooting distance. This enables quick and correct focusing, even without looking at the riflescope.

  • 3 sensitivity amplification levels

Selection of the signal amplification level combined with new filtration algorithms with fine brightness and contrast adjustments offers the hunter great opportunities for long-range detection of game under diverse weather and temperature conditions. The amplification setting helps to define an animal’s trophy features and ensures a clear rendering of objects and background in the field of view.

  • Photo and video recording

Keep the best moments of observation and share them with your friends and hunting colleagues. One touch of a button is enough to capture an interesting moment or start recording a video. 16 GB of internal memory enables recording many hours of video and tens of thousands of photos.

  • High calibre recoil resistance: 12 gauge, 9.3x64, .375H&H

Talion thermal riflescopes are high impact resistant and can be used with rifled hunting weapons with calibres of 9.3x64, .30-06, .300, .375H&H, etc., as well as with smooth-bore and pneumatic weapons.

  • Wi-Fi integration with iOS and Android devices. Stream Vision 2 application

The built-in Wi-Fi module will connect the device with smartphones based on Android and iOS via the Stream Vision 2 mobile application. This combination provides a great opportunity, such as wireless updating of the device software, the transmission of images to a mobile device screen in real-time, remote control of digital functions and many others. Users registered in the application are provided with cloud storage space for photos and videos taken with a digital or thermal imaging device.

  • 5 shooting profiles / 50 zeroing distances

Zeroing settings are saved in a shooting profile. Talion memory contains up to five shooting profiles for several types of weapons or cartridges. Each profile can hold up to ten zeroing distances.
  • A selection of 10 reticle shapes in 9 colour modes

A reticle is electronically displayed in the same plane as the target. The Talion memory contains ten reticle configurations and functions (direct shot type, ballistic, scalable and regular), all available in nine colour options.

  • Variable colour palettes

A choice of 8 colour palettes lets the user observe their field of view more effectively, allowing them to optimise the unit for specific tasks and react to changing observation conditions. White Hot, Black Hot and Red Hot are optimal for object detection, and Rainbow and Ultramarine help increase chances for recognition & identification. Red Monochrome, Sepia and Violet are best suited to long-range observation at night.

  • Precision aiming in the “Picture-in-picture” mode

The “Picture-in-picture” function enables the shooter to display a high-precision zeroing frame. Taking only 10% of the total display area, the frame shows a magnified image of the target and reticle and allows the user to closely see the image in the aiming area and have visual control of the entire field of view at the same time.
