Can I sharpen tools other than pocket knives with this?
Yes. While it is optimized for EDC (everyday carry) and hunting knives, it is versatile enough to sharpen kitchen knives, scissors, garden shears, fishhooks, and even broadheads.
Do I need to use water or oil while sharpening?
No. Both the diamond and ceramic surfaces are designed to be used dry. This makes it much cleaner and more convenient for use in the field or while traveling.
Why are there two different angles (20° and 25°) on the guides?
The 20° guide on the diamond plate is designed for shaping and repairing a dull edge. The 25° guide on the ceramic plate is slightly steeper, which allows you to quickly hone and polish the very tip of the edge (the micro-bevel) without having to remove as much metal.
Are the sharpening plates replaceable if they wear out?
The diamond and ceramic plates are permanently adhered to the frame to ensure a slim, durable profile and are not replaceable. However, they are built from high quality materials designed to last for many years of regular use. The only user-replaceable part is the pocket clip.
Is this sharpener suitable for beginners?
Absolutely. The built-in angle guides take the guesswork out of sharpening, helping beginners maintain a consistent edge. It is an excellent tool for learning the fundamentals of manual sharpening.
How do I clean the sharpening surfaces?
Over time, metal "swarf" (tiny metal shavings) can build up on the plates. You can clean the diamond and ceramic surfaces using warm soapy water and a stiff nylon brush. For deeper cleaning of the ceramic plate, a standard pencil eraser can often "erase" the metal buildup.
How do I carry it securely?
The sharpener features a slim, folding design that protects the sharpening surfaces when not in use. It also includes an integrated pocket clip, making it easy to secure to a pocket, belt, or MOLLE webbing on a pack.
Will it work on extremely hard "super steels"?
Yes. Because the primary sharpening surface is a 400 grit diamond plate, it is capable of sharpening even the hardest modern knife steels that traditional whetstones might struggle with.
Can I use it while the tool is folded?
The tool is designed to be unfolded during use to provide a stable handle and proper access to the angle guides. When unfolded, the ergonomic grip keeps your fingers safely away from the blade’s edge.

We use DPD , RoyalMail, TNT and UPS courier services for all our orders whether dispatching to the UK or International. As soon as your order has been dispatched you will receive an email with your unique tracking number. We are unable to add delivery notes to your order regarding safe spaces or neighbour deliveries. If you require this service it can be arranged directly with the courier once the parcel is in their network.
IN-STORE ITEMS
These are items that we have in-stock and will be sent out for delivery as soon as possible. We aim to dispatch all orders within 1-2 working days, but during busy periods dispatch may be delayed by a day or so. If you would like to purchase the item in person then please call ahead to arrange an appointment: 01803 611 895.
PRE-ORDER ITEMS
These are usually items that are going to be out-of-stock for a number of weeks or are in short supply. By purchasing a Pre-Order Item you are in effect paying a deposit for your goods. As soon as the item is back in stock yours will be dispatched within 24 hours where possible. Please see individual product pages for current back-in-stock dates. In rare occasions, these dates can be changed by the manufacturers so we recommend staying in contact with Optics Warehouse depending on the product lead time.
INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY & TAXES
In addition to the above information If your delivery address is outside of the UK you may be subject to import duties and taxes, which are levied once a shipment reaches your country. Any such additional charges for customs clearance must be borne by you. You should note that customs policies vary widely from country to country. Optics Warehouse advises each customer to contact their local customs office for further information if they are in any way unsure of local duties or liabilities. Cross border shipments are subject to opening and inspection by customs authorities which means some packages may be opened and re-sealed.

- Please be advised that we have now introduced DPD Pins to all DPD orders from Optics Warehouse.
- If your shipment is being sent from Optics Warehouse via DPD you will be sent a Pin Code that must be shown to the courier upon delivery.
- The pincode is sent VIA email & TEXT message. A valid email address and mobile number must be provided at checkout. Emails will be sent from "Riviera House 3PL" - if you do not receive this email please check your junk or spam folders.
- Please note that if you do not display your pin code to the courier driver upon delivery, you will not be able to have your item and you may need to schedule another delivery date to show a valid pin.
