If you want a rock-solid, no-nonsense shooting rest that doesn’t cost a fortune, the Caldwell Tack Driver Bag is one of those “just works” bits of kit. It’s basically a heavy-duty nylon shooting bag that grips your rifle, cuts down movement, and helps keep your shots more consistent from a bench or field setup. The cool part is it’s unfilled, so you get to choose what goes inside, sand, plastic beads, rice, whatever suits you. It’s got a self-tightening surface that holds your rifle steady, won’t scratch your finish, and it’s small enough to chuck in a range bag but stable enough to actually matter when you’re trying to tighten your groups.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION(S)

1. What is the Caldwell Tack Driver bag used for?
It’s a shooting rest bag used to support a rifle or shotgun for more stable and accurate shooting from a bench or field position.

2. Does it come filled?
No, this version is unfilled. You fill it yourself with material like sand, plastic pellets, or similar dense fill.

3. What can I use to fill it?
Common options are sand, plastic beads, airsoft BBs, or other small dense materials. Sand is the most common choice.

4. What is the bag made of?
It’s made from durable nylon/polyester with non-slip, non-marring contact surfaces designed to protect your firearm.

5. Will it damage my rifle?
No, it’s designed with a non-marring surface so it won’t scratch or damage firearm finishes.

6. How does it improve shooting accuracy?
It reduces movement and recoil by stabilising the rifle, helping you maintain a consistent point of aim.

7. Is it only for bench shooting?
No, it can also be used in the field or on improvised shooting positions, not just a bench setup.

8. Is it heavy once filled?
Yes, weight depends entirely on what you fill it with. Sand makes it quite heavy and very stable.

9. Does it slip on smooth surfaces?
Not usually. The base is designed to be non-slip to help it stay planted on benches and flat surfaces.

10. Why buy this instead of a pre-filled bag?
Main advantage is flexibility—you choose the weight and feel. It can also be cheaper than pre-filled options.
