James - our resident Night Vision and Thermal expert - shares his thoughts between a Dedicated Night Vision unit or the use of an Add-On.

...

Night Vision has become more and more popular over the past 5 years, there is no doubt about that. Not only has it improved in terms of technology but affordability. Gone are the days where everything is now generation graded and tubed. Now is the age of Digital Night Vision!

So, what would be best for you? A dedicated unit or an add-on unit?

Here I’ll have a look at what might suit your needs best…..

ADD-ON'S

The great advantage of one of these units is as it says in the title, you can just put the unit onto your existing day Scope without having to adjust or re-zero it. Yes, it is always worth checking to see if the unit is not changing the point of impact from the day Scope. The best example of this is the Pard NV007; a unit that really has changed the market ever since it came out both for affordability and ease of use.

DEDICATED

Personally, I have always preferred to use a dedicated NV Scope as it makes a much easier setup for a dedicated Foxing rifle. There are also a lot more options on the market too for dedicated units as well, many of which we have for sale. My personal favourite to use has been the Sightmark Wraith; a great unit for the price, simple to set up and very adaptable to many different IR Torches.
