Hikmicro Unit Zeroing: Common Resolutions
Most common resolution
Has the correct process been followed while zeroing the unit? Send the user the manual and the 'how to zero' video. Advise to follow these step by step, to ensure everything is set up to Hikmicro's spec and nothing is being missed.
Troubleshooting Steps
Step 1: Check Installation
Follow the installation instructions and ensure the torque specs of the mounts are followed exactly as per the manual. Too little torque will cause the unit to move, too much will cause damage to the unit.
Step 2: Correct Mounts
Ensure correct mounts are being used – make sure the mounts are the correct height for the end user’s setup. If the mounts are too low, the objective bell can touch the barrel causing issues. Also ensure mounts are not installed on a bend on the scope.
Step 3: Restore Firmware
Has the unit been updated, but not restored? Advise the end user to restore the unit. Not restoring any Hikmicro units can cause conflicts between previous and new firmware versions.
Step 4: Firmware Version
How old is the firmware on the unit? If the firmware is outdated, there could be potential bugs. Connect the unit to the Sight App and update to the newest firmware – ensure a restore is completed afterwards.
Step 5: Check for Damage
Check for damage on all items – scope, rifle, rings, mounts, etc. Any damage to any item in the setup can cause issues when zeroing.
