Why does my Hikmicro unit not hold zero?

Hikmicro Unit Zeroing Troubleshooting

The most common answer:

Zero settings/parameters have not been saved correctly – it's quite easy not to highlight 'OK' on the save pop-up screen within the zeroing menu. Ensure 'OK' has been highlighted and press the menu button to confirm. Double-check this by powering the unit off, then on, and checking the zero settings have stayed the same.

Troubleshooting Steps

Step 1: Check Installation

Follow the installation instructions and ensure torque specs of the mounts are followed exactly as per the manual. Too little torque will cause the unit to move, too much will cause damage to the unit.

Step 2: Mount Reinstallation

Has the unit been removed from the weapon/taken off the mounts? If so, it's highly unlikely the unit has been installed back in the exact same way. Ensure all mounts/screws are set to torque settings and re-zero the unit.

Step 3: Zeroing Process

Has the correct process been followed while zeroing the unit? Send the user the manual and the 'how to zero' video. Advise to follow these step by step, to ensure everything is set up to Hikmicro's specifications and nothing is being missed.

Step 4: Firmware Restore

Has the unit been updated, but not restored? Advise the end user to restore the unit. Not restoring any Hikmicro units can cause conflicts between previous and new firmware versions.

Step 5: Firmware Version

How old is the firmware on the unit? If the firmware is outdated, there could be potential bugs. Connect the unit to the Sight App and update to the newest firmware – ensure a restore is completed afterwards.

Step 6: Correct Mounts

Ensure correct mounts are being used – make sure the mounts are the correct height for the end user’s setup. If the mounts are too low, the objective bell can touch the barrel causing issues. Also ensure mounts are not installed on a bend on the scope.

Step 7: Check for Damage

Check for damage on all items – scope, rifle, rings, mounts, etc. Any damage to any item in the setup can cause issues when zeroing.
