James - our resident Night Vision and Thermal expert - provides a brief and basic breakdown of the current, top Pulsar Thermion models, so you can decide which model best suits your needs.

...

Ever since the Pulsar Thermion range has been out there has always been debate as to which is going to sell the best within the market, hence the introduction of various new sensor sizes that we have never seen before, and the large range of options available throughout.

With this in mind, I’m going to provide you with a basic breakdown.

Those models being the;

Pulsar Thermion XM50 Thermal Weapon Rifle Scope

Pulsar Thermion XQ50 Thermal Weapon Rifle Scope

Pulsar Thermion XP50 Thermal Weapon Rifle Scope

The XM50 introduced a new type of Thermal imaging sensor onto the market. This offers a better price point for customers and a very good base magnification.

The XQ50 is the ever-steady smaller sensor and high pixel pitch combination offering quality identification with a suitable range of magnification.

The XP50 is the definition of high quality in Thermal imaging BUT it has a low base mag.

Having used all 3 of these scopes for various situations I would choose the XQ50 every time and that’s purely for the fact that it represents the best of both worlds. It has a great range of magnification and offers high-quality image resolution for you, allowing you to carry out positive species identification.

If you're comfortable with your quarry and its movements go for the XM50 because it can offer you that high base mag of 5.5x, reducing the amount of pixel distortion.

If your average shooting distance is under 100 yards, then the XP50 is the kiddy for you. High-quality resolution at 2.0x mag at 150 yards is good enough to positively identify and carry out an effective shot.
