How Did This Riflescope Come About?
The Valdada Recon G2 was created by Val of Valdada Optics in Texas, USA, who has been the states importer for IOR Bucharest Optics for years. He has taken his wealth of knowledge and experience from selling the complete IOR range and created an optic that is in our opinion near enough perfect.
By taking the best features from the IOR range of optics and changing the design and specifications that in the past have put people off, the Valdada Recon G2 was born.
What’s So Special About the Recon G2?
This scope has been considered to be “The best riflescope ever made” – but why?
- The Valdada Recon G2 4.8-30×56 has been designed with long range ultra-precision shooting in mind.
- Constructed with a generous 40mm main tube which gives a maximum 150 MOA (42 MILS) of internal adjustment.
- Contains the best German Schott Optical Glass

It’s physically impossible for a scope to be perfect at its extremities because when dialled at this level of elevation or windage, the light that is coming through is bending. This is physics. And it’ true term is ‘Vignetting’.
Vignetting only occurs at the extreme adjustments of the optic’s available travel (both in windage and elevation) due to the fact that the erector assembly is positioned at an extreme up/down/left/right position.
When the erector assembly is in this extreme position, there may be a visible obstruction of the light-ray-trace pattern. The extreme positioning allows the edges of the focusing tube to slightly obstruct the light-ray-trace which will cause a ‘shadow’ or ‘crescent moon shape’ to form in the field of view.

STEP 1. The turret cap at the top – above the main turret grip – has a ‘grippy’ top-edge and loosens easily by hand through turning anti-clockwise. No tools or force required!
STEP 2. Once the top turret cap is unscrewed it can be pulled off completely.
STEP 3. The main turret with the graduations on will now ‘lift-off’ and can be pushed back on at the zero position.
STEP 4. Once the turret is removed, the brass sleeve to set physical ZeroStop is exposed and can be set with the included allenkey.
That’s all there is to it!
