What Is New About the Pulsar Telos LRF XT50?

Pulsar has equipped the Telos LRF XT50 with its premium 1280×1024, 12µm thermal sensor, previously introduced on the Merger LRF XT50. This brings the advantages of Pulsar's XT sensor technology to the Telos monocular platform for the first time.

However, Pulsar hasn't simply changed the sensor.

The Telos LRF XT50 also introduces an updated low-profile laser rangefinder, a higher-resolution AMOLED display, improvements to the zoom control and NFC connectivity for quicker pairing with a smartphone.

Pulsar TELOS LRF XT50 Thermal Imaging Monocular

1280×1024 HD Thermal Sensor

At the heart of the Pulsar Telos LRF XT50 is its 1280×1024, 12µm HD thermal sensor with a sensitivity of less than 20mK sNETD.

The high sensor resolution provides significantly more thermal information for the device to work with, helping to produce highly detailed images and making it easier to identify objects and pick out finer details in the landscape.

This is particularly beneficial when observing at longer distances or using digital magnification, where lower-resolution thermal sensors can begin to lose detail.

Combined with the XT50's 50mm f1.0 objective lens, the sensor provides excellent image quality throughout its 2-16x magnification range, with a Zoom Boost function extending magnification up to 24x.

NFC and Stream Vision 2 Connectivity

The Telos LRF XT50 introduces NFC Wi-Fi connectivity, designed to make pairing the monocular with a smartphone faster and easier.

Rather than working through a lengthy connection process, a compatible phone can be tapped against the Telos LRF XT50 to quickly establish a connection with Pulsar's Stream Vision 2 app.

Once connected, Stream Vision 2 provides access to a range of digital functionality including:

  • Live image viewing
  • Firmware updates
  • Device settings and additional features

 

The XT50 is also compatible with Stream Vision Ballistics, allowing users to access ballistic data, select profiles and configure preferred calculator units through a connected smart device.

Up to 8 Hours of Battery Life

Power comes from Pulsar's LPS 7i rechargeable Li-ion battery pack, providing up to eight hours of operation.

The battery also supports wireless charging, adding another convenient charging option when using the monocular regularly.

For longer observation sessions, the replaceable battery design also provides greater flexibility than a permanently integrated power source.

Built for Demanding Outdoor Conditions

As you would expect from a Telos thermal monocular, the XT50 has been designed with outdoor use firmly in mind.

Its composite polymeric rubber-coated body provides additional protection against everyday bumps and scrapes while offering a secure grip, including in wet conditions.

The monocular carries an IP67 protection rating, providing resistance against dust and moisture ingress.

It is also designed to operate in temperatures ranging from -25°C to +40°C, making it suitable for use throughout changing weather conditions and seasons.

Part of the Pulsar Telos Upgrade Programme

One of the most interesting aspects of the Telos platform is Pulsar's approach to upgradeability.

Rather than treating every new thermal monocular as a completely separate generation, the Telos platform has been designed to allow compatible existing devices to be upgraded as technology develops.
